Chloé Delarue builds environments as part of a cycle she calls TAFAA (Toward A Fully Automated Appearance). The project is both theoretical and aesthetic, giving the artist the means to explore the ambiguous relationships and networks between societies and the countless ersatz technologies that infiltrate our perceptions ever more deeply.

Her TAFAA exhibitions hint at a future afflicted by obsolescence, grown old before we even reach it. Delarue arranges a multitude of residual, sloughed-off skins on metal skeletons, taking over the space with cables and chains, glass and mirrors, screens and neon tubing infiltrated by decaying plant matter or overlaid with latex membranes.

Chloé Delarue’s hybrid installations initially touch the visitor physically before stirring their deepest anxieties. Her TAFAA programme has been developing since its initial creation in 2015 as an ecosystem in its own right, constantly undergoing transformations and fresh combinations. It seems to pulse with a life of its own, feeding on the artist herself, enslaving her for its own ends to open up lessons previously beyond its, and her own, reach.

Chloé Delarue was born in 1986 in Le Chesnay, France. She lives and works in Geneva.
